It fills us with joy to once again be able to host our Italian Winemaker Dinners at Donato Enoteca.

This time we are hosting ETTORE winery, a local Mendocino winery owned by maverick Italian winemaker Ettore Biraghi. Ettore was born and raised in Varese, Italy, a small city northwest of Milan in the country’s Lombardy region.

Organically-farmed and family-run, Querceto di Castellina is one of the jewels of the Chianti appellation in Tuscany.
With vineyards dating as far back as the sixteenth century, Querceto di Castellina consistently make some of the best Tuscan wines today.

Join us and taste Tuscan history in a glass, including their award winning Chianti Gran Selezione and their limited release wine called 'Venti' which is an elegant and bold Tuscan blend.

The Fontodi winery is nestled in the “golden basin” known as Conca d’Ora, south of Panzano in Chianti Classico. The Manetti family, owners of Fontodi, crafts some of the most sublime Sangiovese ever made. 

Regarded by many as a "Champion of Sangiovese", the Fontodi estate has been the most prominent Sangiovese producer in the region. Their pursuit for a perfect expression of Sangiovese brought them to create their most renowned wine, Flaccianello delle Pieve.

We are truly honored of welcoming none other than Fontodi’s Federico Manetti who will share his passion and, among other wines, several vintages of their flagship wine Flaccianello with us.
To accompany this unique occasion Donato and GIanluca will pair Fontodi's extraordinary wines with a multicourse Tuscan feast.

Join us for a singular evening with the wines of Paolo Scavino paired with a Piemontese tasting menu Donato & Gianluca are putting together to complement the wines.

Nestled in the heart of Castiglione Falletto, Paolo Scavino is one of the most historical wineries in Barolo. Founded in 1921 by Paolo Scavino, and now with Elisa Scavino at the helm, the family consistently produces some of the most memorable Piemontese wines today. It is difficult to think of a better exposure to intelligent, sophisticated Barolo than these.

Joining us at this magnificent dinner we welcome Italian wine specialist Chris Miller who will be representing the Paolo Scavino Estate.
Amongst others, Chris will be pouring the coveted Bric del Fiasc cru Barolo including an older vintage.

On Wednesday February 5th we will have the honor of hosting one of Piemonte's most renowned wineries: Francesco Rinaldi e Figli

The great traditionalist estate of Francesco Rinaldi e Figli is one of the greatest names in Piemonte. Located in the town of Barolo itself, it was founded in 1870, when Francesco Rinaldi inherited the vineyard.

Fast forward to the present and Francesco Rinaldi crafts wines of pure beauty from Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra, three of the most important villages in the Barolo area, always upholding the traditionalist style of Barolo, with no new oak, long macerations and long aging in large Slavonian oak botti prior to bottling.

Among the many wines we will taste during the evening we are very excited to be able to share with you Rinaldi's two flagship wines: the single cru Cannubi and the single cru Brunate going back to 2007. All paired with a sumptuous Piemontese menu.

Donato Enoteca is capping off 2019 in full Piemontese style with Damilano Winery and Alba White Truffles.

The Damilano winery carries with it more than 100 years of winemaking history in the heart of Italy's most dynamic, competitive, and prestigious wine zone; Barolo. Damilano is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo, dating back to 1890, when Giuseppe Borgogno started cultivating grapes and producing wine from his own vineyards. Giacomo Damilano, the founder’s son-in-law, took over the winery operation in 1935 turning the winery into a “jewel” of the Langhe area. The Damilano name stands, not only for longevity, but for top quality. 

Join us for our last wine dinner of the year at Donato Enoteca and taste the wines of Damilano winery. Italian wine specialist Chris Miller will be representing Damilano and he has prepared a fabulous lineup which will include the famed and prized crus of Cannubi and Brunate.

To pair the fantastic wines of Damilano, Donato will prepare a Piemontese feast and the menu will have the option of adding Alba white truffles to the dishes.

This is our last call this year for all the Barolo lovers out there. 

Do not miss this intimate dinner and the opportunity to experience a truly Piemontese evening in Redwood City.
